My Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems has taken its winding road to creative sewing and designing! I've always been a teacher at heart and love educating and motivating sewers of all genres to get the most out of their machines and create those perfect projects. I specialize in machine embroidery, sewing techniques, and project design that utilizes one or all of these areas. I enjoy helping students marry their fear of technology to their creativity, and empower them to see beyond the limits they put on themselves. Whether it's using their computer to store designs, digitizing embroidery designs, creating artwork, manipulating photos, working with cutting machines, or just get their computer to talk to their embroidery machine, I'm in a happy place when I can help you understand the issues. The challenge of bringing technology to the sewing industry and reducing people's fear about that technology is what I love. Being able to simplify processes while bringing practical, fun, and thoughtful projects to the classroom or to your home is what I'm known for.
I offer custom classes in sewing and embroidery techniques for students in a classroom setting or you can take one of my many online classes.
Have your favorite dealer, sewing group, or guild get in touch with me to set up a course customized to fit your learning needs. I specialize in beginning to advanced classes.
Online classes can be found at Martha Pullen University. These classes are on demand and can be taken on YOUR schedule. You can watch them as often as you need and you own them forever...so I encourage you to check them out!
Stay tuned as well for notices on upcoming webinars, video tutorials, and retreats!
Co-authoring "Pillow Talk" several years ago helped me realize how much I love creating and designing. This book received accolades for being a great "how-to" book on home-dec techniques. It featured smaller pillow projects so you could learn the techniques of professional interior designers as well as incorporate embroidery designs into your work.
Sulky of America, Inc. has recently promoted me on their website as their "featured artist". You can click the link to read more and see more photos of her work...or read more information and post on their blog. I would love to hear from you! http://blog.sulky.com/featured-artist-katie-bartz-of-sewing-scene/
